Imagine you're managing sustainability initiatives within a large enterprise. Your organization is committed to reducing its carbon footprint but struggles with complicated platforms, unintuitive workflows, and cluttered dashboards. That’s exactly where Fils was—a pioneering fintech and climate tech enterprise dedicated to helping businesses offset their carbon emissions through investments in impactful green projects.
When Fils approached Denovers, their sophisticated SaaS platform faced significant usability challenges. Although the product was technically powerful, it suffered from outdated interfaces and poor user experiences that frustrated users rather than inspiring them to take climate action.
Challenges Fils Needed to Overcome
- Cluttered & Unintuitive UX/UI: Users found the existing interface confusing and visually overwhelming.
- Complex Transaction & Carbon Offset Flows: The workflows for managing carbon offsets, events, and transactions were cumbersome and counterintuitive.
- Scalability & Performance: The platform needed to handle the visualization of large-scale enterprise data efficiently.
- Motivating User Engagement: Users required visual motivation and persuasive elements to increase carbon offsetting.
- Comprehensive & Clear Data Visualization: Data had to be presented clearly and interactively through engaging dashboards.
Fils was looking for a design partner with extensive experience in designing intuitive, data-intensive B2B SaaS platforms within the fintech and climate tech sectors. After thorough research, Fils chose Denovers based on our proven track record. Our agile engagement model included dedicating a senior product designer who collaborated closely with Fils, continuously incorporating feedback into the ongoing design process.

The Free Trial That Sparked the Transformation
Before committing to a full redesign, Fils began with a free one-week trial engagement—which, by the way, is our standard practice for all new clients. The goal: see how Denovers would reimagine two critical parts of the product — the dashboard and the carbon offset flow.
We reimagined the dashboard to inspire climate action by introducing an Impact Widget, an "Offset Now" CTA, and a greening Earth animation that encouraged user engagement. Interactive carbon graphs and real-time project tracking made the impact tangible.
We also overhauled the offset flow, turning a basic form into an engaging journey where users selected projects and offset amounts through an interactive slider with live animations. The smooth payment flow completed a motivational experience.
Fils loved the outcome, proving Denovers’ ability to design interfaces that drive behavior and enhance mission-driven products.
(We will discuss them in detail later on.)

The Full Engagement Begins
After the successful trial, Denovers dedicated a senior product designer who followed a highly collaborative and iterative approach, anchored by weekly meetings with the CEO that kept everything on track and transparent.
Every time our designer completed a flow, screen, or module, we presented it to Fils management first—gathering their feedback, making the necessary refinements, and only then moving forward.
This real-time feedback loop ensured there were no surprises and that the product evolved exactly in line with their vision. Fils really appreciated the seamless workflow and the level of involvement they had throughout the process. It made collaboration feel smooth, efficient, and genuinely enjoyable for both sides.
Reimagining the Dashboard
We designed a dashboard that inspired climate action. It wasn’t just about numbers—it was about impact. We introduced an Impact Widget that displayed the total carbon offset achieved, with a CTA to "Offset Now." A greening animation allowed users to see Earth become greener as they offset more, creating a behavioral nudge to take action. Interactive carbon conversion graphs and offset stats brought clarity, while project tiles let users view the projects they were contributing to and track real-time impact.

Offset Flow Overhaul
We turned a dull form into a rewarding journey. Users began by selecting a verified carbon offset project. They then used an interactive slider to choose how much to offset — as the slider increased, a live animation of the Earth getting greener encouraged users to offset more. A smooth payment step concluded the process. This design wasn’t just functional; it was motivational. Fils loved it. The trial proved Denovers could not only design interfaces but also shape behavior and elevate mission-driven products.

Events Carbon Emission Calculator Module Design
On-ground events like conferences, exhibitions, and trade shows generate significant carbon emissions through energy-intensive venues, travel for attendees, and resource-heavy setups like lighting, catering, and promotional materials. These activities contribute to greenhouse gas emissions, exacerbating climate change.

Fils wanted to make it easy for companies to offset event emissions, and for that, event-based calculator was designed with steppers covering event details, space, food, travel, stay, gifting, and marketing. Once completed, the screen displayed the total carbon emission, a visual breakdown via bar graphs, and full event transparency. This allowed companies to clearly identify which parts of their events were the biggest emission drivers, leading to smarter, greener decision-making.

Freight Emissions Calculator
Freight shipments by land, air, or sea emit significant carbon due to fuel-heavy transport like trucks, planes, and ships. These emissions harm the environment and public health. Offsetting them through carbon credits or cleaner logistics is crucial for companies to minimize impact, meet regulations, and align with sustainability demands—supporting a low-carbon future.
Again, to make it easier for companies to offset freight-based carbon emissions, we designed a freight calculator that allowed emissions estimation by land, air, or sea. Users could input container types, weights, shipment routes, and more. The system calculated emissions dynamically and allowed businesses to break down their shipments across multiple stops. We even visualized assumptions, source accuracy, and route-level data—making this tool both analytical and transparent.

Transaction Flow Redesign
We began the full engagement with a complete overhaul of the transaction flow. The legacy design lacked structure and visual hierarchy. Our redesign introduced a clean, modern interface with summary scorecards displaying total transactions and emissions at a glance. Visualized data via bar and line graphs gave users a deeper sense of platform activity, while detailed records and advanced filters made managing offsets more intuitive and efficient.

Projects & Offsets Hub
We crafted a visually immersive experience for browsing and contributing to carbon offset projects. Each project displayed detailed metrics, historical contributions, and a CTA to increase investment. Project pages linked to external partners and impact dashboards, giving users confidence in the integrity of their contributions.

GHG and CLEC Reports Module
We reimagined the compliance reporting experience with a UX-first mindset. Users could now generate reports effortlessly through globally recognized protocols like CLEC and GHG Inventory. A sticky summary sidebar kept key insights always in view, while well-organized panels broke down emissions by type, scope, and source—making complex data instantly understandable.
To top it off, a dedicated reports section displayed emissions by scope, mode, and carriage, along with full GLEC compliance and detailed activity logs. This way, companies could generate audit-ready, stakeholder-friendly reports in just a few clicks. As a result, trust, clarity, and confidence in sustainability reporting were significantly amplified.

Building the Design System
To ensure consistency across this multi-module product, we built a comprehensive design system. It featured an atomic component structure, a climate-conscious color palette (greens, greys, blacks), detailed tokens, icon sets, form styles, and widget patterns. This not only made the UI scalable but also accelerated the front-end handoff.

The Outcome?
The client was extremely happy with the new redesigned Platform. After internal testing, they received overwhelmingly positive feedback. The Product is now in the development phase.
