Imagine you're a modern fish farmer in Southeast Asia. You manage multiple tanks, monitor feed schedules, track water quality, and consult with vets — all while trying to grow your business. Until now, you’ve relied on manual records or patchy tools. Then comes a Singapore-based platform traditionally known for connecting pet owners with veterinary services, looking to expand its ecosystem into aquaculture.

The Opportunity

The platform wanted to pioneer a mobile app tailored for fish farmers — a marketplace and management tool that bridges farm management, veterinary support, diagnostics, and commerce. The idea was bold: digitize fish farming in a region where aquaculture is booming but underserved by modern tools.

To bring this vision to life, they turned to Denovers.

Starting with a Trial: Laying the First Brick

As with many of our partnerships, we kicked things off with a collaborative trial. The goal was to validate how we work — not just what we deliver. Denovers assigned a senior product designer and design manager, who started working closely with the platform’s product manager.

Our first challenge: design the core flow around batches — collections of tanks grouped by fish type or farming cycle. Each batch needed an overview of health metrics, history, and care logs. Within each batch were tanks, and each tank had reports, journal entries, vet visits, and more. We ran multiple iterations of the dashboard, batch creation flow, and tank detail views.

They loved our collaborative energy, clear communication, and product thinking. Once the trial was a success, we moved into a full engagement.

Full Engagement: Designing a Farm Management Platform from Scratch

Denovers assigned a dedicated product designer who worked alongside Zumvet’s product manager in a tight, agile feedback loop.

Onboarding and Dashboard

We began by crafting the onboarding journey, including splash screens, walkthroughs, login, and signup. The dashboard became the command center — listing batches, showing performance stats, and offering quick access to key actions. The experience was designed to feel clean and data-rich without overwhelming the farmer.

Batch and Tank Management

Farmers could create a new batch through a guided stepper flow. Each batch contained multiple tanks. We built a separate flow for creating tanks, again using a stepper approach to handle nuanced data points.

Inside each tank’s view, users could log activities, see historical records, track journal entries, and access vet reports — giving farmers a full view of operations.

Consultations and Reports

Next, we designed a seamless vet visit booking flow. Farmers could view past and upcoming visits, while consultants could issue structured farm reports post-visit, covering:

  • Overall summary
  • Water quality
  • Animal sampling
  • Treatment recommendations

Users could review these reports and purchase suggested treatments directly from the app.

Tools for Smarter Farming

We introduced a suite of calculators to assist with:

  • Fish stocking
  • Feed quantity
  • OTC antibiotics dosage

Each tool was carefully designed for mobile-first usability, with visual feedback and intuitive sliders.

In-App Chat & Appointments

One of the most engaging features was real-time chat with consultants. Farmers could ask questions, receive recommendations, and even schedule a consultation directly from chat.

Knowledge Hub & Profile

We also built a modular profile section housing farm-specific information across categories like water management, biosecurity, and nutrition. The FAQs module provided self-help content for quick resolutions.

My Diary: Logging Daily Life

Farmers could document day-to-day activities with My Diary, logging events or incidents per tank. These logs served as a running history of farm operations — searchable and filterable.

Web Landing Page

Impressed by the mobile application, the client also assigned us the task of designing a web landing page for the product. The goal was to attract fish farmers and veterinary consultants to explore and download the mobile app.

We crafted a clean, purpose-driven landing experience that combined compelling headlines, engaging visuals, and strong CTAs to convert visitors into app users. The page also featured products like rapid test kits to emphasize the platform’s utility in improving health and disease diagnostics in marine livestock.

Additionally, the landing page served an educational purpose — raising awareness about sustainable and effective marine husbandry practices in Southeast Asia.

The Result

What started as an idea quickly turned into a full-fledged mobile platform for aquaculture. The app provided a one-stop solution for farm management, from consultation to commerce.

The client appreciated Denovers not just for our design skills, but for our ability to integrate deeply into their product thinking, iterate fast, and push usability forward with every screen. The product is now live and successfully serving farmers in the region.
