Imagine you’re a real estate investor trying to find the next profitable property. You open a platform with dozens of features—graphs, calculators, pricing charts—but within minutes, you’re overwhelmed. There’s insight somewhere in the noise, but the interface feels like a maze.

This was the experience Mashvisor users faced. A U.S.-based B2B SaaS platform, Mashvisor aimed to empower investors and Airbnb hosts with robust property data, dynamic pricing tools, and dashboards. But powerful features were buried under clunky navigation, inconsistent UI, and scattered flows.

That’s when Mashvisor partnered with Denovers.

The Challenge

Mashvisor’s existing product had rich functionality, but poor UI and inconsistent UX patterns. Some of the issues users faced included:

  • Discovering critical investment insights
  • Navigating between rental data and comparison tools
  • Using powerful features like calculators and strategy planners
  • Overwhelming navigation and scattered workflow
  • No structured way for agents to showcase a listing
  • Lack of hierarchy in data presentation
  • A complicated and lengthy signup experience

Even seasoned investors found the interface unintuitive. The product team wanted to make the experience beginner-friendly, insightful, and clean without sacrificing analytical power.

The Partnership began with a UX Audit

The engagement began with a 7-day trial. We kicked off with a comprehensive UX audit, combining stakeholder interviews and heuristic reviews. Using affinity mapping, we highlighted friction areas and laid out user journeys. The client loved the direction, and the trial turned into a full-fledged partnership.

Design Process and Execution

Our research-driven approach formed the foundation of our redesign roadmap. And so we began working together with them. Denovers embedded a dedicated product designer into Mashvisor’s team, collaborating daily with their product manager and syncing weekly with stakeholders. Together, they prioritized usability over visual overload to focus on simplified decision-making journeys for investors.

Let’s now have a look at what work we did in collaboration with Mashvisor

Phase 1: Navigation Overhaul

Mashvisor’s original navigation was dense, scattered, and didn’t reflect the user’s mental model for investment analysis. It caused friction at nearly every step, especially for new users unsure where to begin.

To solve this, Denovers introduced a task-specific navigation architecture grounded in user goals, allowing for a more intuitive exploration of tools and data.

Here’s how we restructured navigation for better flow and discoverability:

  • Introduced a domain-specific structure tailored to investment tasks
  • Designed contextual navigation that aligns with user workflows
  • Balanced information density with UI clarity through modern visual hierarchy

The improved navigation reduced user confusion, helped users locate key tools faster, and significantly increased the usage of high-value features.

Phase 2: Property Details Page Redesign

This was a critical decision-making screen, but it suffered from information overload and poor layout, making it hard for users to conclude.

Our challenge was to present large volumes of property data in a way that felt organized and accessible.

We organized this screen into clear, digestible sections to support informed decisions:

  • Persistent left panel with all property KPIs (rental income, expenses, cap rate, cash flow, etc.)
  • Right-side: Graph view at the top, listing view at the bottom
  • Multi-tabbed sections for insights, comparisons, strategy, general info, and more

The redesign helped investors absorb key metrics at a glance and compare properties without context switching, leading to quicker, more confident investment decisions.

Phase 3: Rental Strategy Flow and Calculators

Previously, users were forced to do mental math or external calculations to understand rental profitability. The flow was rigid, lacked feedback, and didn't adapt to user input. We turned it into an interactive tool with real-time updates and visual feedback.

We simplified complex modeling through these changes:

  • Dynamic calculators for short- and long-term rental scenarios
  • Editable input fields and visual feedback on investment payback
  • Easy toggle between financing strategies, helping users model profit potential on the fly

Users now experiment with investment strategies in real time, improving their engagement and significantly reducing analysis time.

Phase 4: Property Listing Tables and Pop-Up Previews (Find and Analyze Flow)

Users wanted to analyze multiple properties quickly, but the previous interface lacked scalability and clarity. List views were underutilized, and clicking into each property disrupted the flow. We focused on maximizing on-screen data density while minimizing user distraction.
Here’s how we improved comparison and interaction:

  • Added a scrollable table with sortable columns and sticky headers
  • Introduced pop-up property preview modals for quick inspection
  • Designed bulk action tools and quick filters (e.g., high occupancy, price cap, location)

These enhancements empowered users to shortlist properties faster and reduced bounce rates on key conversion paths.

Phase 5: Research & Analyze Flow

This flow was critical for existing property owners but was buried and visually inconsistent. Users needed better visibility into performance data and booking trends. We unified the experience and connected third-party data seamlessly.

We turned passive reporting into proactive insights:

  • Revenue trends month by month
  • Occupancy analysis across listings
  • Airbnb connection sync to pull booking data directly

Users gained a clear understanding of their portfolio performance, resulting in higher platform engagement and renewed subscriptions.

Phase 6: Website Builder for Agents

The earlier builder was clunky and lacked personalization, preventing agents from showcasing properties effectively. We reimagined it as a lightweight, step-by-step portfolio generator built for usability.

Here’s how we enabled faster and more attractive agent portfolios:

  • Stepper-based flow for setting up domains, themes, assets, and content
  • Live previews and smart defaults for non-tech-savvy users
  • Portfolio-like structure for lead capture and credibility

Agent adoption increased due to ease of use, and the tool became a key differentiator in client onboarding pitches.

Phase 7: Signup, Login & Pricing

Onboarding was fragmented and overwhelming. Users often dropped off due to unclear paths and clunky pricing layouts. We introduced progressive disclosure and modular flows to streamline the experience.

Here’s what we redesigned to improve onboarding and conversion:

  • Created separate flows for Book a Demo, Login, and Signup
  • Implemented a stepper layout to give users a sense of progression
  • Optimized the pricing page with 4 tiered columns and deep feature comparisons

Signup completion rates improved, and pricing clarity led to more self-serve signups and better-qualified demo bookings.

Collaboration & Feedback Loop

Mashvisor’s product team remained involved throughout:

  • Daily syncs between Denovers' designer and internal product manager
  • Weekly stakeholder reviews for broader alignment
  • User testing with real estate agents and investors to validate design iterations

This fast, feedback-driven loop enabled iterative excellence, ensuring we didn’t just create pretty UIs but intuitive, conversion-optimized experiences.

An impressive feature about Denovers was their attentiveness throughout the process. They introduced several innovative ideas that showed their commitment to staying ahead of industry trends. They transformed our complex data workflows into intuitive journeys that users now love.

Results

The redesign brought measurable improvements:

  • Easier feature discoverability
  • Improved data comprehension and decision-making confidence
  • Reduced onboarding friction for new users
  • Greater adoption of core features like calculators, property insights, and the website builder

With cleaner UI, a modern design system, and simplified workflows, Mashvisor can now onboard and retain more users, even those new to real estate investing.
